STEP 1/8
1. thawing frozen garaetteok
STEP 2/8
How to quickly defrost frozen garaetteok! Pour boiling water enough to soak the rice cake, and in about 5 minutes, it becomes soft rice cake as it is.
STEP 3/8
(If the rice cake is less soft, leave it for a few more minutes!)
STEP 4/8
2. While defrosting the rice cake, I made broth and used the anchovy broth pack again. ** The re-pack will vary slightly from brand to brand, but if you add a pack of 800ml water (2 to 3 servings) and boil it for 10 minutes, the broth is complete!
STEP 5/8
The pack is convenient because you don't have to boil it for a long time. Bring to a boil and remove the pack again.
STEP 6/8
3. Add seasoning to the broth
STEP 7/8
4. When the sauce is well seasoned, add defrosted rice cake and boil it
STEP 8/8
I caught a lot of water, so I ate it after boiling it down. It's hard to season because it's thick, so I like it when it's boiled down a little. You can leave some soup and dip it, or you can boil it down like me! The end! It's simple, right? :)
Garae tteok doesn't get seasoned well, so it's much tastier to make it after making the broth than to cook it with plain water!
