STEP 1/7
Soak seaweed in water for 1-2 hours. I soaked a handful of dried seaweed in the water the night before.
STEP 2/7
Wash the soaked seaweed once and cut it into bite-sized pieces.
STEP 3/7
Put 1.5T of perilla oil in a pot and stir-fry seaweed over medium heat.
STEP 4/7
Stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes, then pour water and bring to a boil over high heat.
STEP 5/7
When it starts to boil, turn down to low heat, cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes.
STEP 6/7
When the soup turns milky, it's almost done. Add 1.5T of soy sauce and 0.5T of salt. Taste and add some salt if it's bland! (I changed the pot in the middle;;)
STEP 7/7
Lastly, add 1T of minced garlic and boil it for a while.
If you like seaweed soup with meat, put the meat in it before frying it. Seaweed stretches a lot when soaked, so hold plenty of water and soak it!
